It really was beautiful to see. So many visitors though!

I’ll upload my favourites onto tumblr later!
You can kind of see the ditch to the right of the rocks. They surround the rocks in most places. Right now, these ditches are about 18 feet deep. Back in the time they were dug, they were 50 feet deep. And they were dug with an antler pick and wicker basket! It has been estimated that if about 650 people spent 24 hours a day, 365 days a year digging, it would have taken 10 years to dig these ditches.
This is the biggest rock that is standing in Avebury. It weighs 110 tons, that’s as much as 11 double-decker buses! It’s amazing, because they know where all the rocks came from, and it’s about a half mile away from the site that the rocks were placed. It’s still unknown how they were carried, and how many people were involved. There used to be 600 of these stones, all standing up in a circle about a mile around, and when you look at an aerial view, it’s almost a perfect circle.
I love the thatched-roof cottages. :) Also in this picture you can see some of the standing up stones. They’ve been there as long as Stonehenge has.
Avebury! It was a beautiful day, and nothing says England like sheep in the background. :)
I’ve been keeping busy here the past few weeks. Every Tuesday night I have Sci-fi Society, where we watch a movie and hang out. Then Wednesday nights I do archery, which is so much fun! I love everybody in this society, and I’m sad I only get to hang out with them until December. A few weeks ago I went bowling with Archery Club, which was awesome, and I came in second. :) That weekend I went to Stonehenge and Avebury, and I’ll upload some of the pictures in a bit. For a bunch of rocks, Stonehenge was pretty cool. It’s different seeing it in pictures than it is to actually go. Avebury is a very quaint town, and in a way it is more impressive than Stonehenge because there are huge rocks sticking up out of the ground, and there used to be over 600, now there’s only about 50 left standing.
Last weekend I went to Bath. It is probably the most beautiful city I have ever seen. The architecture is simply incredible, and the Roman Baths were so neat to finally see! I even got to drink Roman Spa Water…it was really awful…and warm. But how many people can say they drank water from the Roman Spa in Bath?? :)
This week I’ve been doing research for my essay for my Egyptian Civilisations course. I’m writing a paper on the use of snakes in Ancient Egypt, it’s really interesting! Last night I went to play Lazer Tag with Archery Club. It was so cool! It definitely beats the one at Pizza Putt…it was two floors, with ramps and fog machines and stuff. Definitely a work out though. Then we went to Sin City, which is the alternative club in Swansea. Drinks were cheap, and the music was great! I made myself get up this morning to go see The Lion King at the cinema with my friend Betty. Seeing Mufasa die on the big screen was even sadder than watching it on my computer.
This is my last weekend of relaxing until December! Next weekend I’m going to Amsterdam, then London, then a few castles, then Bath again, then Paris the first weekend of December. And I just booked a flight to Dublin for Haney and I when he gets here in December. <3 Lots of fun stuff planned, pictures will follow!
That’s all the good pictures from Ireland!
Saturday I’m going to Stonehenge and Avebury, I can’t wait!
